UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest

Dear Colleagues,

The Waxahachie High School Band Program is pleased to host the 2007 Region XX 4A, 3A, & 2A U.I.L. Concert and Sight Reading Contest.  This event will be at Waxahachie High School on April 16th & 17th.  We hope that your visit to our campus will be enjoyable and rewarding.

Enclosed in this packet you will find:

1. Important contest information

2. A contest schedule

3. A map to Waxahachie High School including entrances, equipment loading/unloading

4. A seating chart template—please complete and indicate the exact number of stands, chairs and risers that your groups will need. (We will need a chart on every performing group.) You may fax (972-923-4617) your set up charts, e-mail them, or bring them with you on the day of the contest. The earlier we have them the smoother the contest will run.

REGION XX UIL AAAA/AAA/AA VARSITY AND NON-VARSITY

CONCERT AND SIGHTREADING CONTEST

Waxahachie High School will provide the following percussion equipment:

A. Concert Stage: Concert Bass Drum (bring your own mallet) Musser, 4-1/3 octave marimba (use yarn or rubber mallets only) Chimes 5 Yamaha Timpani Vibes Xylophone

B. Sight Reading Room:
Bass Drum , Bells , 4 Ludwig Timpani , Xylophone


 

FOOD:

No eating facilities will be available on campus.  No food or drinks will be allowed in the fine arts complex.

DRESSING:

We will not be able to furnish dressing rooms. Please plan on arriving and departing in uniform.

STORAGE:

Storage areas will not be provided. Please use your buses for storage.

 

 

 

 

UNLOADING AND LOADING:

Buses will unload in the NORTH parking lot directly in front of the auditorium and wait there until the band completes sight reading.  NOTICE: if more than two buses are present and parking in front of the auditorium becomes a problem, your drivers may be directed to park in the stadium parking lot.

Large equipment should be unloaded at the auditorium loading dock and stored in the scene shop. No equipment will be moved in or out while a performance is in progress. Please instruct your truck and bus drivers to not leave any vehicle unattended. After loading, they should park down the street with the buses.
